If we’re being honest, the best travel adapters are one of the handiest little lifesavers you can pack. It’s all too easy to be caught off guard, especially when you’re lugging around a whole squad of devices, so having a reliable adapter in your bag is the easiest way to stay fully charged wherever you go.

Since it’s Travel and Outdoor Month here at T3, I thought I’d treat you to a mini series of my favourite travel gadgets – one review a day for the rest of the week. First up in the spotlight is the Epicka TA-105 Max World Travel Adapter.

I’ve been testing this adapter across a variety of work and press trips, and now that it’s been put through its paces, I’m ready to spill the beans.

Epicka TA-105 Max World Travel Adapter review: price and availability

The Epicka TA-105 Max has an RRP of $59.99 (around £45) and is available through Epicka’s official website. I couldn’t spot many (if any) alternative retailers for this exact model in the UK, but Epicka ships internationally, including to Canada, Hong Kong and across Europe.

I personally think the price is more than fair for the quality and features you’re getting, so you know you’re getting a good deal.

Epicka TA-105 Max World Travel Adapter review: design and features

So, the most important thing you need to know is that the TA-105 Max is equipped with four interchangeable plug types – Type A (USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan), Type C (Europe), Type G (UK, Ireland), and Type I (Australia, New Zealand). That means it’s compatible with over 200 countries and regions, but it doesn’t support Type D (India) or Type M (South Africa), so double-check your destination before packing it.

It can charge up to six devices at the same time – you’ll find 3 x USB-C ports and 2 x USB-A and then the main plug port. All of them support PD3.0 or QC3.0 and offer up to 75W of fast charging, with the brand claiming it can fully charge a MacBook Pro 16 in 30 minutes.

Safety features include a built-in 8A fuse to protect against overcurrent, as well as a safety shutter to prevent accidental contact with live parts. There’s also a plug lock system to secure the plug in place during use.

One thing to keep in mind is that the TA-105 Max is not a voltage converter. That’s pretty standard with adapters, but make sure any if the best hair straighteners or best electric shavers are dual-voltage before you plug them in abroad.

Another nice touch is the premium carry case it comes with, which makes a nice change from the usual flimsy pouches you can get. There’s also an adorable Epicka Passport included in the box – totally unnecessary, but super cute.

Epicka TA-105 Max World Travel Adapter review: is it worth it?

After taking this little gadget on multiple international trips, I can confidently say that it’s impressed me. The build quality feels solid, the range of ports (especially the mix of USB-C and USB-A) is super convenient, and it charged everything quickly and reliably in each country I visited.

The carry case also proved surprisingly handy, and it kept everything neat, safe and tangle-free, which isn’t something I can say for every travel adapter I’ve tried.

My only word of caution is to check whether you’ll need support for Type D or Type M plugs. If not, then I couldn’t recommend this adapter enough.
