    ZDNET’s key takeaways

    • Perplexity is offering a referral program for its Comet browser.
    • Referrals must download Comet and ask a question.
    • You get $15, they get a free month of Perplexity Pro.

A few weeks after making the AI-centric Comet browser available to everyone, Perplexity is offering an incentive to get people to take the browser for a test drive.

    How it works

Through a special referral program, you can get people to download Comet through your unique link. When they do, you’ll get $15 cash for each person, and they’ll get a free month of Perplexity Pro — a $20 value (here’s a look at several other ways to get free Perplexity Pro). This offer was for $20 when it debuted, but it appears it’s since dropped to $15.

Also: I’ve been testing the top AI browsers – here’s which ones actually impressed me

If you’re not familiar, Comet comes with a built-in AI agent that can learn your browsing activity, interact with third-party websites and apps, and more. Other browsers are incorporating AI, like Chrome is with Gemini, but Perplexity’s new browser incorporates AI in new ways.

When you download the Comet browser and create an account, you get a screen detailing the offer, a customized referral link to use, and a section that shows how many signups you have. “Earn cash every time you invite a friend to Comet,” the text reads, “and they get a free month of Pro. To qualify, your invites must log into Comet and ask their first question.”

There doesn’t seem to be a limit to how much money you can earn.

Also: I tried Perplexity’s Comet AI browser, and I like where it’s going (but it’s not there yet)

You must have a Perplexity account to participate and earn rewards. You’ll only get credit for people who download the Comet browser for the first time on any device. Perplexity warns to be careful who you invite, as bulk email distribution or distribution to strangers might get you banned from the program.

    Small caveat

There is a 30-day holding period, so you’ll have to wait at least a month before you get any cash in hand from this promotion. Payments are handled through a third-party affiliate marketing platform called Dub Partners.

Also: Are AI browsers worth the security risk? Why experts are worried

The terms of service don’t say how long this program will last, but the signup page does say it’s for a “limited time.”
