    Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

This was a bit of a tricky Wordle. My opening guess, SLIME, did an okay job though it was nothing spectacular. With two yellow boxes and 125 words remaining, I decided to rearrange my yellow boxes. In hindsight, perhaps all new letters on my second guess would have served me better. LATER cut that number down to 22 and gave me a green ‘E’. I guessed VOWEL next, which cut my remaining solutions down to just two. I almost went with BOWEL, but somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind, I thought maybe that had already been a Wordle (it has!) and chose DOWEL instead. Huzzah!

    Competitive Wordle Score

    Today’s Wordle Bot

Just like yesterday, I get 0 points for guessing in four and 0 for tying the Bot. The Bot gets the same. That leaves our scores at:

    Erik: 11 points

    Wordle Bot: 5 points

    How To Play Competitive Wordle

    • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
    • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
    • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
    • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

    Today’s Wordle Etymology

Dowel can be traced back to the 14th century and the Middle English word ‘doule/dule’ which means “wooden rim or section of a wheel” which likely comes from the Middle Low English, dovel, or “plug, tap.” The word can also be traced to Old French doelle or “hollow part of a tool” from the Proto-Germanic dulją, or “pipe.”
