While the Apple Watch’s built-in sleep-tracking functionality is robust, you may prefer a third-party app with additional features or a different interface.

We’ve gathered our favorite third-party sleep apps for Apple Watch to help you get the rest you need.

SleepWatch is an excellent third-party sleep-tracking option that uses artificial intelligence on your stats to make recommendations for improving your sleep.

The premium option also includes access to an online community to compare statistics and get recommendations from others.

The sleep app for Apple Watch is free to use but you can upgrade for $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year to unlock most of the features.

    What We Like

    • Sleep Rings help you track your sleep goals visually.

    • Analyzes sleep quality, restlessness, and more.

While AutoSleep costs $8.99 without a free option, there are no additional subscriptions or hidden charges.

For the one-time fee, this app provides automatic sleep tracking whether you wear your watch or not—complete with Sleep Rings to help you track your sleep goals.

If you do wear your device to sleep, the AutoSleep function analyzes your sleep quality, detailing your time asleep, restlessness, time awake, and heart rate to score your quality of sleep.

    What We Like

    • Options for automatic or manual sleep tracking.

    • Detailed sleep reports and heart rate analyses.

    • Includes audio recordings.

Averaging 4.4 out of 5 stars with impressive reviews, Pillow is a favorite among third-party iOS sleep trackers. The user interface is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing, allowing plenty of options to track and analyze your sleep.

Pillow provides options for automatic or manual sleep tracking. It also includes detailed sleep reports, heart rate analyses, and audio recordings (for those who think they don’t snore).

Pillow is free to download and use, but you’ll need to upgrade to a paid version for premium features. A monthly subscription is $9.99, and an annual subscription is $39.99.

Sleep++ is a no-frills sleep tracker. The app is simple and clear, providing basic reports and visuals that are easy to understand.

The app shows you a start button, a stop button, and a little blue chart to display your sleep patterns. It can sync your data to Apple Health and will automatically log sleep when activated on the iPhone app.

It’s free to download and use, but the ad-free option costs $1.99.

HeartWatch is a sleep app for Apple Watch that aims to give you a more complete picture of your health data with comprehensive metrics and reports.

While primarily a heart rate data tracking app, it also maps your heart rate data to your sleep habits, allowing you to compare your sleeping and waking heart rates.

HeartWatch costs $8.99, but there are no additional in-app purchases or subscriptions required to access all the features.
