The Download

It’s official: Copilot Vision on Windows with Highlights is now available on Windows 10 and 11 PCs. To use it, you need to be signed into the Microsoft 365 Copilot app; it’s included in Microsoft 365 Family and Personal subscriptions as well as Copilot Pro subscribers on iOS and Android.
Look for it in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Edge, and other apps; if you don’t have it, check your subscription and be sure your license is up-to-date.
The name is a mouthful; here’s a quick overview of what it is and how you can get started using it.
- Copilot Vision, when enabled, can see what you see on your screen plus talk to you about it in real time. It has the ability to work within two apps at once to help you make connections.
- Highlights is a ‘show me’ tool. When you ask Copilot Vision to ‘show me how’ for a specific task within Windows, it will show you where to click and what to do to complete the task..
- In addition, Copilot can do things like give you tips while you play games, take look at your photos and offer advice for improving lighting, or even review travel itineraries.

Still Wary of Copilot Vision?
Most of us are used to typing information in to a chatbot like ChatGPT or Claude. Copilot Vision takes things to the next level by allowing you to converse with it while allowing it to see what you’re working on.
Privacy questions, of course, still abound. Microsoft tries to allay these fears by making the whole thing and opt-in process, and by promising to delete session data after use. Specifically, all images, audio, and context are deleted.
The transcript of the conversation is stored to improve Copilot’s memory. However, if you don’t like that, you can delete the transcript, too.
If you’d like to read it for yourself, here is Microsoft’s Data, Privacy, and Security policy for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
There is also a feature that allows you to control whether or not your data can be used form AI model training.
