Byte-Sized Brief
- Uber Eats is adding new AI tools to help restaurants.
- AI will summarize reviews and write menu descriptions.
- User-uploaded food images will also get AI touchups.
Uber Eats has announced plans to roll out several artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help restaurants reach customers, and hungry customers to find their next meals faster. AI-generated menu descriptions will take the load off of restaurant owners and give customers the best idea of what they’re ordering. AI will also step in to summarize user reviews so that merchants understand what they need to work on.

Finally, photos that users upload along with their reviews will get the AI treatment in the name of best representing the food and the restaurant. Any images that the platform’s AI considers poorly composed or too dark will get a boost (more light, a better plate, or reframing). It’s hard to know if the edits will veer too far in the opposite direction of a “real” photo, or whether any of these AI tools will distort the food ordering experience or make it better. One thing’s certain: AI’s another cook in this kitchen.
The Bottom Line
Uber Eats will roll out new AI tools to help restaurants write menu descriptions, sift through customer reviews, and spruce up customer images. These AI features aim to help businesses thrive and users find food easier, but who knows how authentic the overall experience will be on the customer side.
