Wyze just launched a new Lamp Socket v2 that screws into an existing light fixture and lets you conveniently power your Wyze Cam directly from it. The lamp socket makes your light work intelligently with your Wyze cam, so you can control it from the Wyze app or set automation for it to turn on when motion is detected, for example.
The Wyze Lamp Socket v2 features a USB-A port and USB output of 5V 2A. It lets you connect using the same power cable included with your existing or new Wyze Cam, offering the camera continuous power even when the light is turned off in the app.

You can convert your existing outdoor lighting into smart lights, which is useful if you have bulbs you don’t want to replace. The system also supports dusk-to-dawn automations, which turn your lights on and off based on ambient light, potentially helping you save money on utility bills. You can also add an unlimited number of Wyze Lamp Sockets and connect them together so they work with a single camera.
If you have multiple outdoor lights, you can add Wyze Lamp Sockets to each and connect a Wyze Cam to a single one. Then, all your lights will turn on when your camera detects motion. You need the Wyze Cam to add and set up your Lamp Socket and for most of its functions. When you group multiple lamp sockets in an area, you assign them to a Wyze Cam.
Essentially, your Wyze Lamp Socket v2 forms a symbiotic relationship with your Wyze Cam, where the former provides the latter with energy and the camera provides the socket with intelligence.

The second version of the Wyze Lamp Socket is available for $19 and features a higher bulb wattage and improved performance compared to the first model, which was released in 2021. The new Lamp Socket works with the Wyze Cam v3, Wyze Cam v3 Pro, Wyze Cam v4, Wyze Cam OG, and Wyze Cam Pan v3.
