Amazon’s October Prime Day is officially underway, running from October 7 through October 8. The two-day sales event brings big discounts on smartphones, smart home devices, and, most notably, gaming laptops. As luck would have it, I found a great deal. During October Prime Day, the Alienware 16 Aurora Laptop AC16250 is on sale $1,180 — its lowest price to date. Normally, the laptop retails for $1,400, so you’re looking at a nice 15% discount.

The Alienware 16 Aurora is an interesting gaming laptop because it appeals to both professionals and gamers. It runs on an Intel Core 7-240H Series 2 processor paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card, a combination that ensures smooth, high-resolution gameplay for modern titles. Supporting that setup is 16GB of DDR5 RAM to provide fast load times. Then, there’s the 16-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels) display, outputting crisp, detailed visuals.

A laptop like this can run pretty warm, but thanks to the device’s Cryo-Chamber, it stays perfectly cool. Air is sucked in via the chamber, circulated inside, and out through the exhaust vents around the sides. Thanks to this design flourish, the Alienware 16 Aurora doesn’t have a bulky thermal shelf, allowing it to maintain a travel-friendly profile at just 0.89 inches thick and weighing 5.5 pounds.

Another important feature to highlight is its Stealth Mode. By hitting the Fn + F7 keys, you deactivate the RGB lighting and activate Quiet performance mode, turning an attention-grabbing computer into a subdued, work laptop that fits perfectly in the office.

Storage space is limited to a 1TB SSD. That’s a decent amount of storage for your game library, but speaking from experience, it fills up fast. However, the Alienware 16 Aurora houses two upgradable PCIe Gen 4 SSD slots, so you can have up to 2TB of storage total.

    How I rated this deal

As per ZDNET’s rating system, I grant this deal a 2/5. I tested an older version of the laptop,  the Alienware m16 R2, back in 2024. The Alienware Alienware 16 Aurora builds on that same formula with upgraded internal components. Based on that experience, I can wholeheartedly recommend the newer model to anyone seeking a laptop that delivers excellent gaming performance while maintaining a professional look.

As per Amazon, this deal ends on October 8 when the Prime Day sales event concludes.
