    Summary

    • Facer is returning to Wear OS 6, offering over 500,000 customizable watch faces.
    • Wear OS 6 enables in-app subscriptions and “Watch Face Push” for easy customization.
    • Material 3 Expressive design will accompany Wear OS 6 later this year, maintaining Facer’s Premium functionality.

Last year, a long-standing, popular smartwatch app was left out in the cold after platform changes made it incompatible. However, thanks to changes in Wear OS 6, Facer will be making its triumphant return.

Facer was once a staple for customizable watch faces—it had been around since the early days of Android Wear. However, changes introduced in Wear OS 5 last year made the app incompatible. The app was pulled as a result, leaving a void for those who love to tinker and personalize. It was a shame, because Facer offered a huge library of designs, from minimalist to super intricate, all crafted by a community of designers.

This Is Wear OS 6, Coming to Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch

Google’s Wear OS operating system powers a wide range of smartwatches from multiple manufacturers, but it got especially good following the release of Wear OS 3, and it has only gotten better from there. Wear OS 6 is finally here, and it’s packing a lot of improvements.

Wear OS 6 isn’t fixing everything that made Facer incompatible, but it offers enough room for Facer to return to the platform. Facer promises a “full Facer experience,” which means you won’t just get a handful of pre-selected faces. You’ll have access to their entire user-submitted collection of over 500,000 watch faces, allowing you to express your specific style right on your wrist.

With Wear OS by Google’s announcements from Google I/O 2025, we’re thrilled to let you in on some huge news: the full Facer experience is coming back – faster, smoother, and more powerful than ever, on Wear OS 6.

We’ve been working closely with Google to ensure the next generation of Wear OS unlocks everything you loved about Facer — and more.

Facer says that Wear OS 6 enables in-app subscriptions, which means Facer Premium will be available. “Watch Face Push” allows for watch faces to be instantly applied to your watch from the Facer app. That means you won’t need to maintain a bunch of individual watch faces from the Play Store—they’ll all be in the Facer app and applied to the Facer watch face.

Wear OS 6 is expected to roll out officially later this year with a brand new Material 3 Expressive design. People who have Facer Premium subscriptions will be able to continue using it just like they did with Wear OS 4. For those who are on Wear OS 5 and can’t access their subscription, Facer is asking you to sign up here for updates and discounts.
