The Honor 90 and 90 Pro from a couple of years ago were the first in the number-series to feature 200MP cameras, but then the company shifted away from high resolution sensors for several generations. With the arrival of the 400 series, 200MP is back on the menu.

There are two new models – the Honor 400 and the 400 Pro. The latter is larger and more powerful and it has a dedicated telephoto camera. The vanilla model is a bit smaller and it is more affordable, while still offering a 200MP main camera and all the AI features that Honor and Google have dreamed up.

    Honor 400 Pro

The Honor 400 Pro is equipped with a 200MP main camera (1/1.4” sensor, f/1.9 lens with OIS), a 50MP telephoto (1/2” Sony IMX856, f/2.0 with OIS) and a 12MP ultra-wide camera (f/2.2 112° lens) with macro capabilities. The front camera is a 50MP unit.

This model is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, just like the 300 Pro. It is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB storage. AI tools from the Google Cloud and Honor’s own work can turn a still photo into a video, can remove passers-by, remove reflections and so on. There’s more: AI Subtitles, AI Translation, AI Writing tools, AI Summary and more. Besides creative and work applications, AI can protect you too with the Deepfake Detection feature that can catch scam video calls.

    Honor 400 Pro

The Honor 400 Pro has a 6.7” quad-curved display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1,280 x 2,800px resolution. Peak HDR brightness is 5,000 nits with 3,840Hz PWM dimming.

The phone measures 8.1mm thick and weighs 205g. It is rated IP68/IP69 for dust and water resistance. There’s a 5,300mAh Si/C battery inside that supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. According to the company, the battery will retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 4 years of use (it’s rated at 1,200 charge cycles).

The phone is launching with MagicOS 9.0 (Android 15) and will be supported for 6 years with OS updates and security patches. The Android 16 update for the 400 series is expected later this year.

    Honor 400

The Honor 400 is the smaller model of the two with a 6.55” display, a flat 120Hz panel with 1,264 x 2,736px resolution and the same 5,000 nits peak HDR brightness with 3,840Hz PWM dimming. It’s thinner and lighter at 7.3mm and 184g, while still having the same 5,300mAh battery. The charging tech has been cut down to 66W wired-only charging, however.

The vanilla model has the same 200MP main camera (1/1.4” sensor, f/1.9 lens with OIS), 12MP ultra-wide (f/2.2 112°) with macro mode and 50MP selfie camera. There’s no tele module, so the 200MP sensor is tasked with zooming in.

    Honor 400

The Honor 400 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, again, the same chipset as its predecessor. It has 8GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage. This model has the same AI capabilities as the Pro.

One final downgrade worth mentioning is that the vanilla phone only has splash resistance with an IP65 rating.

    Availability & pricing

The Honor 400 and 400 Pro launch tomorrow and will be available from honor.com, as well as through partner retailers and carriers.
