    Byte-Sized Brief

    • Upload a photo to try on outfits.
    • AI animates clothes on a digital version of you.
    • Available now in the US on iOS and Android.

Who needs a fitting room? Google recently launched Doppl, a new app that lets you try on outfits virtually. Just snap or upload a full-body photo of yourself, or use an AI model, and Doppl uses generative AI to show what an outfit would look like on you. You can even take a screenshot of a look from Instagram or elsewhere to see how it might fit on your frame.

Doppl uses Google’s existing virtual try-on tech and adds a few experimental tricks to provide short AI-generated videos that animate how the clothes might move on your body to help you get a better sense of feel and fit. Google warns it’s not perfect, and that clothing details might miss the mark, but it’s a neat glimpse of how AI could reshape online shopping. The free Doppl app is available now in the US on iOS and Android.

    The Bottom Line

Google’s new app Doppl is an AI-powered tool that could change how people discover and try on clothes without ever having to step into a store. It lets you upload a photo and see how any outfit might look on you, including ones you’ve found online or taken from your camera.
