    Byte-Sized Brief

    • Copilot Mode is now available in Microsoft Edge.
    • It can access open tabs to help you work.
    • This is optional and free (for now).

Microsoft just rolled out a new experimental Copilot Mode for its Edge browser, and it’s aiming to turn your browser into more of a digital sidekick. With this mode on, Copilot can look across all your open tabs, help summarize or compare what you’re viewing, and eventually, even start handling advanced tasks like restaurant bookings, all from a new tab page.

Instead of just searching or chatting, you can ask Copilot to figure things out for you based on what’s already open in your tabs. Voice commands are supported, too, and Microsoft says the assistant will eventually be able to tap into your browsing history (if you want) to do more advanced stuff like managing errands. This new mode is free to try right now and works in Edge on Windows and Mac. It’s totally optional, and you can turn it off anytime.

    The Bottom Line

Microsoft’s new Copilot Mode in Edge is now available as a test feature. It gives the browser more context, so it can help you compare tabs and complete tasks. It’s free right now if you want to try it.
