    Byte-Sized Brief

    • New password feature announced at Google I/O.
    • Chrome will detect and flag compromised logins.
    • Automatic password changes coming to supported sites.

At Google I/O 2025, the company announced a new Chrome feature that will make dealing with compromised passwords a lot easier. Soon, when Chrome detects that a password has been exposed during sign-in, Google Password Manager will step in with a prompt to fix it. On supported websites, it will even generate a stronger password and update it automatically.

That could mean a lot less stress the next time you get one of those “your password was found in a data breach” alerts. Instead of scrambling to update things yourself and dealing with storing the new password somewhere safe, Chrome will soon handle all of it in the background. The update is coming later this year.
