ForbesToday’s NYT Strands Puzzle: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Saturday, July 19thBy Erik Kain

Lazy Sunday is upon us and I’m sorely in need of rest! Well, I’m sore in any case. I’ve been hitting the gym hard along with pretty regular hot yoga and my body is feeling the pain. But hey, no pain no gain, right? I find the best way to take care of my mind and spirit is to take care of my physical self, but it gets harder as you get older. Harder and more crucial, I suppose. Of course, solving word puzzles never hurts. Let’s solve today’s Strands!

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.

    Spoilers ahead.

    Today’s Strands Hints

Read on for today’s theme and some hints to help you uncover today’s words. Instead of giving you the first two letters of each word, today I’m giving out three hints instead of two.

    Today’s Theme: Shore thing!

Hint: What would you wear on a visit to the sea?

Clue: Not for fishing or anything like that, but for fun in the sun and sand (this ties together nicely with yesterday’s Strands).

Here are the first two letters of each word:

    Remember, spoilers ahead!

    What Are Today’s Strands Answers?

    Today’s spangram is: BEACHATTIRE

Here’s the full list of words:

    • BIKINI
    • TRUNKS
    • SARONG
    • WRAP
    • SANDALS
    • SWIMSUIT

    Here’s the completed Strands grid:

    Today’s Strands Breakdown

I found BIKINI almost immediately—go figure—and then there was BEACH just beneath it. Of course, that didn’t work, so I looked a little further and found BEACHATTIRE, the spangram, next. TRUNKS was obvious at this point, and SARONG and WRAP were close behind. The final two—SANDALS and SWIMSUIT—were a bit trickier, but I found them all and didn’t even need a single hint. I didn’t even get a single word wrong today. Lucky me.

How did you do on your Strands today? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
