    Der israelische Identity-Management-Anbieter CyberArk wird Teil von Palo Alto Networks.

    Mit der Übernahme des Identity-Management-Spezialisten CyberArk für rund 25 Milliarden Dollar geht Palo Alto Networks möglicherweise das größte Risiko seiner Geschichte ein.

    Palo Alto Networks denkt um

    Faszinierend ist dieser Deal insbesondere deshalb, weil Palo Alto Networks über Jahre den Bereich Identity Management bewusst gemieden hat. Und das aus gutem Grund – Kunden zu bitten, ihre Identity-Management-Lösungen über Bord zu werfen und zu ersetzen, hat wenig Aussicht auf Erfolg. “Palo Alto hat Identitätsmanagement jahrelang gemieden, weil das eine tiefgreifende Integration erfordert”, erklärt Akshat Tyagi, Associate Practice Leader bei HFS Research. “Im Gegensatz zu Firewalls oder Endpoint-Tools sind Identity-Systeme mit HR-Datenbanken, Cloud-Plattformen, Legacy-Infrastrukturen und Zugriffsebenen von Applikationen verknüpft. Der erschwert es, sie in großem Umfang bereitzustellen und zu monetarisieren.”

    Genau das will Palo-Alto-CEO Nikesh Arora mit der Übernahme von CyberArk angehen, wie er in einem Brief an die Aktionäre seines Unternehmens erklärte. Die Rechnung ist denkbar einfach: Wenn man die Komplexität nicht bewältigen kann, kauft man das Unternehmen, das sie bereits gelöst hat. Und CyberArk ist nicht irgendein Identity-Anbieter, sondern zählt zu den Marktführern in diesem Bereich. Entsprechend sind die Israelis für viele Anwenderunternehmen die erste Adresse, wenn es darum geht, die “Identity-Flut” zu bewältigen.
