Father’s Day has come and gone, and the next big holiday is July 4th. Independence Day. When the united forces of Earth’s last defenders came together to drive off the alien invasion! Or, at least I’m pretty sure that’s why we celebrate that day. Of course, we have a couple weeks worth of Wordles to solve before we get there. Let’s solve today’s!

    Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

CRATE left me with one yellow box and one green box and just fifteen remaining words. I had the hardest time coming up with a second guess I liked, and eventually I just decided I’d go with NEEDY even though I didn’t love the double ‘E.’ It worked out . . . okay. Not the best choice, to be sure. Now I had three green boxes, however, and the very first word I came up with was PETTY. I plugged it in and got lucky. PETTY for the win!

    Competitive Wordle Score

    Today’s Wordle Bot

I get 1 point for guessing in three and 1 point for Beating the Bot. The Bot gets 0 points for guessing in four and -1 for losing to me. Our new totals are:

    Erik: 13 points

    Wordle Bot: 7 points

    How To Play Competitive Wordle

    • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
    • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
    • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
    • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

    Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word petty comes from the Middle English pety, which was borrowed from Old French petit, meaning “small” or “little.” Ultimately, it traces back to Vulgar Latin pitittus, also meaning “small.” Originally used to describe something minor or insignificant, petty later took on negative connotations like “trivial” or “small-minded.”
