    Byte-Sized Brief

    • The feature lets you pick your favorite news sources.
    • Chosen outlets will show up more often in Top Stories.
    • Itโ€™s available now in the US and India.

If you tend to stick to a handful of news sites you trust, Google is giving you a way to see more of them in Search. The new โ€˜Preferred Sourcesโ€™ feature lets you pick your go-to outlets so that their stories show up more often in the Top Stories section. Youโ€™ll still see results from other places, but your chosen publications will get more visibility when they have something fresh on the topic youโ€™re searching for.

The feature is live in the US and India. If you tried this earlier in Googleโ€™s Labs, your settings will carry over automatically, but you can change your picks anytime. To select a source, search for a topic on Google and then select the icon to the right of Top Stories. Publications can also create deeplinks for readers to add their website to their favorites list easily.

    The Bottom Line

Google Search now has a Preferred Sources feature in the US and India that lets you choose which news outlets should appear more often in Top Stories. This doesnโ€™t restrict all news to those websites, but your favorites will get priority when they publish relevant content.
