Currently, we’re between major sales events. Amazon’s October Prime Day ended a couple of weeks ago and Black Friday is next month. However, you can still find excellent deals floating around. Here’s one: The Acer Nitro V 16 is currently on sale at Best Buy for $699. That is a $200 discount on a gaming laptop packed with modern hardware.

When I first saw the deal, I was impressed by the Nitro V. For $700, you’re getting a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 240 processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 GPU, and 16GB of RAM. While it’s not the most powerful setup, it is more than capable of handling everyday multitasking and demanding games. One of its standout features is the MUX Switch, which connects the RTX 5050 GPU directly to the display for better graphical performance. However, activating this feature comes at the cost of greater battery drain.

A laptop like this can run rather warm, so Acer equipped the Nitro V 16 with a cooling system consisting of eight vents (four take in air while the other four expel heat) and two fans to manage internal temperatures during long gaming sessions. The 16-inch display deserves a special mention, too. It runs at a crisp 1920 x 1200 resolution with a refresh rate of 180Hz, ensuring fluid and immersive gameplay.

Add in features like Wi-FI 6E, DLSS support for smoother frame rates, and Acer ProCam to automatically record game highlights, and you’ve got a solid gaming laptop at a price that’s tough to beat.

    How I rated this deal

As per ZDNET’s rating system, I grant this deal a 3/5. Acer’s Nitro V 16 is a great entry point into PC gaming. You could spend that money on a PlayStation 5, but the hardware in a laptop like this will last you much longer. Overall, it’s a better investment. I don’t know when the deal will end, so I urge you to take advantage of this price drop while it lasts.
