Sketchers wants to help you track your kids with AirTag-compatible sneakers

Tired of your kid losing the AirTag you stuffed in his backpack? Or strapped to their wrist? Or pinned to their clothing? Sketchers has a new solution: shoes for kids with a hidden AirTag compartment in the insole.

The new Find My Sketchers line are fairly typical of kids’ shoes: Velcro, machine-washable, bright colors. They just have a little AirTag-shaped compartment when you lift up the insole, so you can keep tabs on your child’s location without making it obvious.

It makes a certain amount of sense. There are lots of AirTag holders for kids, from pins to wristbands to lanyards. But kids lose their belongings a lot, and a kidnapper would likely dispose of a clearly visible AirTag holder right away. An AirTag in the shoe seems a little more secure. The price seems comparable to other Sketchers premium kids’ sneakers at $50 to $60 a pair, depending on style.
