The Epic Games Store has been giving away free PC games every week for years. All you need to do is claim a game within the promo window to keep it forever. Wondering if it’s worth checking on any of these games? Well, here are all the best ones you’ve already missed.

We all make mistakes, and it seems I was working off a very incomplete list when originally putting this list together, which meant I missed some of Epic’s biggest ever giveaways. I’ve now expanded the list to include some of the brilliant games I missed the first time!

    Table of contents
1 15 Fallout: New Vegas – Ultimate Edition
    2 13 Control
    3 12 Cities: Skylines
    4 11 Death Stranding
    5 10 Total War: Warhammer
    6 9 Kerbal Space Program
7 7 Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy
    8 6 Dishonored – Definitive Edition

Fallout: New Vegas – Ultimate Edition

Despite a slightly rocky release thanks to some exceptionally bad bugs, Fallout: New Vegas has gone on to be heralded as one of the best in the post-apocalypse RPG series. The Ultimate Edition, which Epic offered for free in 2023, includes four story and two item pack add-ons that were initially released as separate DLC, making this an even better deal if you grabbed it for free.

The latest Football Manager game, Football Manager 2024, was available for free on the Epic Games Store just 9 months after its initial release. If you managed to grab this while it was free, you’d have saved yourself a hefty $60 price tag, and had access to the latest and greatest soccer management simulator—a series that is way more addictive than it sounds like it should be.

    Control

Control is a mind-bending third-person shooter with a complex story from the developers of Alan Wake. It’s a highly received AAA game that Epic has offered free three times in total. Unlike the usual weekly promotions, this game was twice only available to grab for two days, which goes to show you need to check the free games regularly to make sure you don’t miss a good one.

    Cities: Skylines

Cities: Skylines may lack the AAA graphics of some earlier entries, but it’s an impressively complex and malleable city designer that somehow manages to make town planning an addictive and enjoyable endeavor. There are countless bonus add-ons available for this game, with a sequel available as well, but Epic only offered the base game in this promotion. It was well worth grabbing and playing nonetheless.

    Death Stranding

From the acclaimed Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding is a bizarre-yet-captivating game that sees you acting as courier in a desolate future. Some have criticized it as little more than a “walking simulator” but there’s much more to it than that, and the story is unlike any other, making it big news when Epic offered it for free for the first time on Christmas day in 2022.

    Total War: Warhammer

You wouldn’t need to spend countless hours amassing and painting an army of Warhammer figurines before battling with them if you’d grabbed Total War: Warhammer when it was free on the Epic Games store in 2022. There are much more modern Warhammer games—some of which have also been free on Epic—but this was one of the best.

    Kerbal Space Program

Gaming shouldn’t be rocket science, but Kerbal Space Program makes it so. In this addictive game you get to manage your own space program, designing rockets, launching them, and hoping they make it into orbit without blowing up any goofy green Kerbal aliens. There is immense replay value here, and if you checked the Epic Games Store in January 2023 you’d have gotten it for free.

    Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy

2013’s Tomb Raider rebooted the classic gaming franchise with modern graphics, revised gameplay, and a gripping new take on Lara Croft. Its positive reception led to 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider, and 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider closing out the trilogy. Each game in the series improves on the last, and all three were available for free on Epic Games at the end of 2021.

Officially, the Definitive Survivor Trilogy combines all three games and their DLCs into a single package, which isn’t available on Epic. However, Epic gave away each game separately, including their DLC, so the end result was the same, making this a fantastic grab!
